Summer is rapidly drawing to a close, and reports from student missionaries are steadily coming in as they prepare to wrap up their assignments. The reports bring great encouragement and joy to me.
I want to share an update from a student serving in Southeast Asia. This student and his team have been praying for God to plant a church in a very dark area.
They have seen that church birthed and a man with severe physical limitations come to faith in Christ. This man wanted to be baptized, yet he couldn’t walk. The team worked together to see him baptized in a hole outside of his home that people had been using to make charcoal out of coconut.
The student goes on to report that since the man was baptized:
We gave him a Bible, and he can’t stop reading it because he wants to know what God’s Word says and he wants to grow more in Christ. He loves telling everyone who comes by his house about what God has done in his life and shares the Truth with them. He told us yesterday that he is so glad that we came and shared the Gospel with him, because no one had ever done that before. He was so happy God used us and took us halfway around the world so that he could know about the good news of God’s grace.
Praise the Lord for what He has done in this man’s life! Praise the Lord for what He has done in this student’s life through this experience! May this story encourage us that God is at work in the nations and challenge us to obey in our assignment – wherever that is.
I am looking forward to hearing many other reports like this one in the coming weeks as students make their way back home. Will you pray with me for these students to finish their assignments well and to come back with a burden to be bold and intentional on their campus?
